Invited Distinguished Professor Takeo Kanade received John Scott Award for 2024.

The John Scott Prize is a historic science prize awarded to those whose inventions have greatly contributed to the “comfort, welfare and happiness” of humankind, and has also been awarded to Hideyo Noguchi, Mme. Curie and Thomas Edison.

He was recognized as “the world’s foremost expert in computer vision” and with his research focus which “has been to provide robots and other machines with “the function of human eyesight” through advanced mathematical algorithms that mimic the processes underlying human vision”

The Award Ceremony was held in Philadelphia on November 20th, 2024.
